A few of our friends with web sites Hundreds of people have helped us and most are not listed below. Some dropped a few dollars during one of our bell ringing (56 cents rings the steeple bell) while others simply show up to help. Without them, there would be no New London Breakfasts. Below are some of the people, religious organizations and businesses that have played an important part in our ability to feed people. Rob Scala and his family live in New London. Rob runs Scala Systems and has donated the hosting of this web site since its inception in 2008. The Dutch Tavern-Peter and Martha have helped us from the start with donations and the grand use of their window for advertising. The Day-New London's daily newspaper, still independently owned, has always been kind enough to get our word out to our region and the world. Hygienic Art, Inc.-like New London Breakfasts, it's a people place that asks few questions and has a large impact on making our city a better place to live.
Jim Stidfole is a board member at the Hygienic and is our cook-in-charge for Thursdays. His wife Sherry, an accomplished musician and music teacher has sponsored musical fundraisers for us (Hoot for Hunger) and plays Christmas songs during our holiday breakfast. Kim Abraham is a freelance yoga teacher and Thai Yoga bodywork therapist who is a regular volunteer on Thursday mornings to work with Jim.
Kim Gash, Photographer-Kim is both a grand young woman and photographer. She took the photographs on our site and she will be working with us on a larger fundraising project during this years. She also pours a good beer at The Dutch. Our food is good but can't compare with East Coast Catering on State Street in New London who've gone out of their way to help both our church and the breakfast program. 99 Restaurant of Groton, CT sponsored our Christmas Breakfast 2009. It was wonderful. WTNH, News Channel 8 in New Haven has reported on our program repeatedly and conducted a live remote broadcast at breakfast.
Among the religious institutions that have aided New London Breakfasts; First Church is a member of The Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ where we derive much inspiration and support. St. James Episcopal Church of New London helps the homeless with their overnight shelter, where many of our guests sleep, and has assisted us in providing the food for their well being. Our sister church in New London is The Second Congregational Church. Our two churches, just a few blocks from each other, have had close relations and they have always been supporters of New London Breakfasts. First United Methodist Church of Mystic, Connecticut-Wonderful people who not only provide volunteers at important times of the year but also are very generous. South Congregational Church of South Glastonbury, Connecticut-From way up north but helping us just the same.
